The Brits have talk for Bajan 'proper pork'
I had to stupse really hard when I saw on the news on Sunday evening that the British Pig Association was comparing our Bajan proper pork unfavourably to British pork.
That created a laugh at my house, because if there's one thing Barbados is renowned for it's the quality of our pork and ham. Odes have been written about the joys of eating a hamcutter. Ask Richard "Low Down Hoad".
Tourists act like they've died and gone to heaven when they tuck into our pudding and souse, fried pork our that juicy leg or shoulder ham from a certain distributor on Fontabelle.
I don't know about you, but I've never eaten any meat in England that could hold a candle to our Bajan proper pork. As for what they call ham, wuhloss don't even go there. Good luck trying to get that flavoured. If the British pork is so sweet, why are my relatives in England crying these days because they can't take back Bajan ham like they used to, and clamouring for every bit of seasoning they could find to flavour up their meats?
Anyhoo, I won't belabour the point. Suffice it to say, would you eat any meat coming from this? I'm just saying....
